Holocaust Remembrance Day

And 'the Day of Holocaust Remembrance: 27 January 1945 the Soviet army entered, liberating it, in the extermination camp of Auschwitz, the symbol of the horrors of the Nazi extermination of six million Jews. It has been nearly seventy years, 67 to be exact since that day, but nobody wants to forget the genocide implemented by the Nazis during the Second World War with the aim to exterminate all Jews living in Europe.

Auschwitz was just one of many concentration camps, concentration camps, where they were locked up, but it became the symbol of all that time. On this occasion, many moments of celebration for the victims of the Holocaust: the minister of culture Lorenzo Ornaghi inaugurated an exhibition at the Vittoriano in Rome "horror" called a "tool against Holocaust denial." Over the years it has witnessed several attempts to deny the massacre of Jews in concentration camps by some people.

The Head of State observes Memorial Day with a ceremony at which the highest representatives of the participating State, those of the Lazio Region and the Municipality. Yesterday evening the Jewish community of Rome, the city where there is still symbolically the ghetto where she lived the thickest Italian Jewish community largely deported to German concentration camps, has held a commemorative celebration in the synagogue with the representatives of the community and about three thousand students. Also present were the Mayor of Rome, the President of the Lazio region and the deputy prime minister of Israel.

The last night was titled "Memory of the Witnesses - The nomination": When the nomination was read the names of all children died in concentration camps, while there were some survivors of the deportation. Even the head of government has finally issued a message to remember the Shoah, the Holocaust, saying among other things like the memory of the Shoah is the founding values ​​of the basic day European Unit.
