Man’s attempt to pull out of parking spot is truly awful (with video)

Sarah Galet, assistant manager of Sports Clips, a barbershop in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, looked out the window of her workplace and noticed something unusual. She told WTAE Action 4 News, "I was standing up here and I see this guy backing out of his parking spot, but I knew he couldn't.” A driver’s attempt to get out his parking spot was so terrible that she rushed and told her co-workers. One of those co-workers, Ashley Miller, took out her phone and started to record it.

The driver, who hasn’t been named, was trying to back up his Honda CR-V but somehow managed to position his vehicle so that it was perpendicular to the cars parked next to it. Ms. Miller told WTAE, “This guy is literally diagonal getting ready to hit this car. I'm standing there like, 'This isn't real. Wehave to videotape this.’ Who does that? Who decides to pull out like that?” Ms. Miller recorded the Austin Powers-esque driving on her phone, and eventually captured footage of the man hitting another car.

(WTAE)

Ms. Galet recognized the car that the Honda driver hit as one that belonged to her friend’s father, who was in a business next door. That’s when the driver tried to take off. She told WTAE, “One of the girls ran out and she was like, ‘You’re not leaving, you’re not leaving.’ He was like, ‘I have to go, I have to go.’ And, so, finally, he like stood and waited for the police to come. But, he got stuck like that. So, he had to wait for somebody to move.”

WTAE tried speaking with the driver, but say he wasn’t home when they came calling. The station also reports that Monroeville Police took a report, but because the driver didn’t actually leave, no crime was committed. The Honda driver and the owner of the car he hit exchanged insurance information.

A compilation video of animals jumping on trampolines

What child hasn’t dreamed of having their very own trampoline? Well, it turns out that our animal friends may share a similar affinity for bouncing up and down with reckless abandon.

But watch the whole thing to be treated to a few surprises, including cats, goats, and even one very determined bison.

First documented video evidence of apes swimming is released

Because of their history of traveling through the trees, researchers say that apes do not have the instinct to swim in the water. But a series of new videos show that what they lack in instinct, the primates more than make up for in learned ability.

Researchers in South Africa and Switzerland documented the swimming efforts of a chimpanzee named Cooper, who not only swims but dives into the deep end of a swimming pool and swims 6.6 feet to the bottom.

“We were extremely surprised when the chimp Cooper dived repeatedly into a swimming pool in Missouri and seemed to feel very comfortable," said School of Anatomical Sciences at Wits University researcher Renato Bender.

“This issue is becoming more and more the focus of research. There is still much to explore,” Bender said.

Even more interesting, the researchers discovered that Cooper employs a breaststroke style, as opposed to the dog paddle technique used by other mammals who are not accustomed to maneuvering in the water.

A second video was filmed at a private zoo in South Carolina, where an orangutan named Suryia can be seen using its long arms and legs to paddle across a pool.

Nicole Bender, a researcher with the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine at the University of Bern, said that like humans, the apes in the videos actually learned to use the breaststroke, moving beyond their evolutionary instinct to simply dog paddle.

“We did find other well-documented cases of swimming and diving apes, but Cooper and Suryia are the only ones we were able to film,” she said. “We still do not know when the ancestors of humans began to swim and dive regularly.”

A largely unaccepted theory known as the aquatic ape hypothesis, posits that early prehumans actually evolved from an existence where they mixed their time spent in and out of water.

Malty Cyrus ‘We Can Bark’ (VIDEO)

If you’re one of the nearly 50,000,000 people who have clicked on the Miley Cyrus video for “We Can’t Stop,” then you’re well prepared for this new parody video from The Pet Collective.

And even if you haven’t taken in the source material, rest assured, “We Can Bark” features dogs in slow motion, dogs diving into swimming pools and dogs napping. In other words, it’s a hit!

“Maltey and her friends party all day, then bark all day and all night,” the Pet Collective told Yahoo! News. “They're living the doggie dream life, laying in the sun, swimming in the pool and dancing anytime they want!”

What do you think? Can Malty Cyrus compete with Corgi Rae’s four million plus YouTube hit? It may be a pet’s world but there can be only one top dog. Though there’s always room for more keyboard playing cats.

Guide dog saves man and woman from swerving vehicle (VIDEO)

An alert guide dog saved a California man and woman on Monday from an out-of-control vehicle swerving backward down a public sidewalk at high speed.

Todd Jurek and Danielle Alvarado are both employees of Guide Dogs for the Blind, a company that trains service dogs to assist visually impaired individuals. They were taking a O’Neil, an 18-month-old Labrador retriever, out for a training walk in San Rafael, Calif., on Monday morning when the near-death experience occurred.

The San Jose Mercury News reports that a 93-year-old woman was reportedly trying to parallel park her vehicle when she lost control and began driving the car in reverse, smashing a store window.

"It was just an unbelievable sight to see something going backwards, barreling down the sidewalk," Jurek told the paper.

Jurek and Alvarado, who was blindfolded as part of the exercise, did not see the car barreling down the sidewalk behind them. But O’Neil sensed something was going on and jerked his head backward. The motion caught Jurek’s attention who then also looked backward just in time to see the car.

The entire incident was captured on a security camera from a local business.

"He probably heard the commotion before the window popped," Jurek said of O’Neil’s timely response.

Amazingly, no one was hurt in the incident, including the driver, who reportedly hit a street bench and stop light before coming to a stop.

Despite everyone walking away unharmed, San Rafael Police Sgt. Raul Aguilar said his department is requesting that the Department of Motor Vehicles conduct a re-examination of the driver to make sure she is qualified to operate a vehicle.

Jurek said O’Neil underwent a series of tests on Tuesday to ensure he was not traumatized by the incident. Guide Dogs for the Blind says it hopes to have the courageous pup placed with an individual sometime in the coming weeks.

Watch this amazing wingsuit flying through a small cave opening (VIDEO)

Alessandro Chickens is a professional BASE-jump athlete. But his latest video showcases a critically dangerous stunt, as Chickens in his wingsuit flies through a small opening into a steep mountain.

The opening itself is barely wide enough for chickens walking, let alone try a maneuver life-threatening air at 150 mph.

But he would not be a famous BASE jumpers if I wasn't willing to try anything extreme. Also, chickens, said Roca Foradada mountains of Montserrat in Spain, have inspired throughout his life.

To prepare for the flight, chickens run two test jumps in which he flew through a banner marked "2013". In the first test, hit the side of the flag. It was an impressive display of accuracy, but if you had actual cave, almost certainly would have been a fatal error.

The second jump, he ripped perfectly through the Center.

With a test flight successfully completed, chickens stepped up for the real thing, launching from a helicopter with a camera mounted on top of his helmet to give viewers a first-person perspective as part of a project for EPIC TV.

And in a thrilling video clips, Chickens in fact successfully goes through the opening, as multiple cameras capture his creation from different angles.

More than 2 million people have already seen the flight in less than 48 hours since it was posted to YouTube account of chickens.

Still, that hasn't stopped several commentators to accuse Chickens to orchestrate a hoax.

"Honestly it makes me sooo happy when people think it is untrue," Chickens wrote on his Twitter account.

' The Hangover ' re-imagined as a horror movie (video)

In 2009, "The Hangover" has dominated the summer box office on its way to becoming more profitable "R" rated comedy ever. But the movie and its sequel, certainly are not without their critics.

Regardless of where you are, you'll probably enjoy this hilarious edited movie trailer for the film, which re-imagines the Hangover as a horror movie.

So beware, there are two points of vulgar language in the trailer, this one in front of your children.

Film student Richard w. Scott edited the footage as part of her college thesis to, in the words of Scott, serve as, "an experimental investigation of the power of post-production techniques typically a movie".

Scott employs different editing techniques that are common in today's horror films. For examples, the color-coding of the trailer has been saturated in sepia tones, in contrast with bright colours and cosy Royal movie. And the music was replaced with acute sound cues and hard that the viewer has come on board.

But the real creativity lies in the way that Scott has rebuilt the footage together to make the film appears to be a dark journey into a world where the character of Alan, played by Zach Galifinakis, is actually a murderer on the loose in Las Vegas wreaking havoc on the lives of her friends unaware and anyone who comes across his path.

As Alan says at the end of the clip, "I don't care what happens. I don't care if I kill someone. "

And if you want to see more of Scott's work, has put together another clip to his thesis, which re-imagines the 2005 film "Batman Begins" as a comedy.

Video shows Calif. man's clumsy burglary attempt

REDDING, Calif. (AP) — Police in a far Northern California city are asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect in a botched burglary. But if the man is wearing the same bright pants and jacket seen in surveillance footage, they may not need it.

The video released Wednesday by Redding police shows the man walking up to a closed grocery store in the middle of the night and looking inside through its front window.

He walks away but quickly returns, his face covered with what appears to be a black stocking. He throws something at the window, cracking it.

The man then flees, tripping twice, once on a parking curb. He is wearing a brightly patterned jacket and pants.

Police say they responded to a burglary alarm at the grocery store at about 1 a.m. on March 5.

Pennsylvania stadium aims to please fans with urinal video games

By Joe McDonald

(Reuters) - Play doesn't need to stop for sports fans taking a bathroom break at a Pennsylvania minor-league baseball stadium that has installed video games in men's room urinals.

The "hands-free" video game is played by directing oneself right or left in the urinals at the Lehigh Valley IronPigs' Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The game is aimed at increasing prostate health awareness.

The video screens challenge players to steer their way along a snowmobile course, while trying to hit cartoon penguins. They also display messages reminding men to make an appointment for a prostate exam, Schaeffer said.

Names of high scorers deft enough to hit the target mirrored on a 12-inch LCD screen above the urinal will appear on other contestants' urinals and on the video displays in the ballpark.

The "hands free" urinal players can go by their full name, part or their name or a pseudonym when their scores are tallied.

The urinal video games will commence when the baseball games start for the IronPigs, a minor league team affiliated with the Philadelphia Phillies. The team opens its 2013 season next week with an exhibition game on Tuesday.

The IronPigs bought the restroom entertainment, described as the "world's only truly hands-free urinal game controller," from Captive Media, a company based in the United Kingdom, said IronPigs spokesman Jon Schaeffer.

While the games have been placed in bars in the United Kingdom, their appearance in the Allentown stadium marks a first in the world of sports, said Ed Gundrum, who oversees sales for the company in the U.S.

"They told us with certainty that it's not in any other sports venue in the world," Schaeffer said. The "p-controlled" video games, which were undergoing "calibration" on Wednesday, are in bars in the United Kingdom, Schaeffer said.

The games, part of a marketing agreement with the Lehigh Valley Health Network, are intended to remind men about the importance of prostate health, the baseball team said in a news release.

Russian "sleeping judge" resigns after video exposé

MOSCOW (Reuters) - A Russian judge has resigned after a video apparently showed him asleep during a trial that ended with him sentencing the defendant to five years in a penal colony, Russian media reported on Friday.

Critics of the Russian justice system, which has a notoriously high conviction rate, were outraged when the video purporting to show judge Yevgeny Makhno sleeping through a defence lawyer's speech in court was posted online in January.

"The Judges Qualification Panel accepted Makhno's resignation from his judge's post," regional judge and panel member Valentina Pozharskaya told state news agency RIA Novosti.

>
>
The film, allegedly shot during a fraud trial last July in the far-eastern town of Blagoveshchensk, seems to show Makhno slumped in his chair fast asleep with his head cocked to one side.

The businessman sentenced to five years hard labour will have a new trial on February 14 after an appeal was lodged over the "unjust" sentence, Russian media said.

Russia's justice system has been in the spotlight recently over several high-profile court cases including the trial of punk protest collective Pussy Riot.

The band's three members were sentenced to two years in prison on charges of hooliganism motivated by religious hatred after they performed an anti-Putin prayer in Moscow's main cathedral in 2012, which Russian and foreign commentators called excessive.

Makhno will eventually be able to return to his post provided he retakes his exams, Russian media said.
