The world's longest-lived person celebrates her birthday 116th in Japan

KYOTO (Reuters)-longest living person in the world, Japan, Kimura Jiroemon celebrated its 116th birthday Friday with Congratulations from around the world and by the Prime Minister of Japan.

Kimura was crowned the world's longest-lived person by Guinness World Records last December after the death of 115-year-old Dina Manfredini of Iowa, in the United States.
"I really congratulate with you your birthday 116a," Prime Minister Abe Shenzo said in a video message.
"I have 58 years, still a young man with only half your age. Thanks to the efforts of your generation, Japan could overcome some tough times and achieve the prosperity that we enjoy today. Your healthy existence becomes our confidence and pride. "
The Mayor of Kyotango City, Yasushi Nakayama, visited Kimura at his home in Kyotango, Western Japan, to present him with messages from all over the world.
Kimura lives with his 60-year-old grandson-in-law and has a diet of three meals a day of rice, squash and sweet potatoes, according to local media.
The Japan has more than 50,000 people aged 100 or more, 2011 Government data showed, reinforcing his reputation for longevity.
The country also boasts the world's longest woman life, 115-year-old Misao Okawa.
